Principles of Nutrition
This course is ideal for anyone interested in the structure and function of the components of a human diet and how the food is processed in the body. This could be personal interest or something which relates to your workplace. We will consider the nutritional requirements of individuals in relation to food choice, lifestyle, life cycle and health.
Course Content
This course is a 20 credit module at Level 4 accredited by Plymouth University
You will:
- Learn about the of the nutritional requirements of individuals
- Develop an understanding of the relationship between diet and diet related diseases
- Learn about how the body uses nutrients once digested
- Develop laboratory skills and techniques
Assessment is 100% coursework.
By the end of the course you will:
- Know the methods of setting nutritional requirements
- Define and identify macro and micro nutrients and explain the uses and functions in the body
- Identify the relationship between diet & health and identify factors affecting diet related diseases
- Describe digestion, absorption, metabolism and assimilation processes
- Apply basic laboratory techniques
Funding Available
If you are employed within a private sector business and do not already have a similar qualification at this level it is likely that due to current funding you will only have to pay half price.
