Introduction:

This programme is designed for students with an interest in both Sports Coaching and Therapy. Students will learn through a combination of theory and practical sessions where application of theoretical knowledge will be demonstrated.

The sports specific and coaching modules will give students a wide base of knowledge alongside offering the choice to participate in a number of different activities. These will include: Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Basketball, Gymnastics, Climbing and Sailing.

The modules aimed at Sports Therapy are taught by two highly trained and qualified Therapists as well as Senior Physiotherapists. They will provide students with detailed knowledge of the mechanics of injury, different treatment methodologies and specific rehabilitation techniques including hydrotherapy.

During the second year of study students will complete a project. This provides them with the chance to undertake a detailed piece of research in their area of interest and carry out experiments to further their knowledge. Students will be supported through this by their tutor and the relevant subject lecturer.

During the second year students will also have the opportunity to specialise in either Sports Therapy or Sports Coaching. This will give students the opportunity to gain a more focused, vocational based qualification.
