Your 2017 training and development programmes designed in partnership with you

With a New Year comes a new focus and no doubt many businesses and HR managers will be starting 2017 by asking if they are getting the best out of their workforce.

The College's Business Development Team

Through initiatives such as the Cornwall Skills Programme, which offers funded training to local employers, Apprenticeship programmes acting as a recruitment aid and a means of upskilling current employees, combined with consultancy services, Truro and Penwith College should be a first port of call to help you deliver results.

The College’s team of Business Development Advisors are experienced industry professionals who consult with local employers to identify training needs. Advisors recommend one-off courses, or bespoke training programmes, designed in partnership, to offer the perfect blend of industry recognised qualifications and coaching, all with a view to ensuring employees have the right tools.

The College’s new Cornwall Skills Programme, co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and the European Social Fund (ESF), gives advisors the ability to offer funded bespoke training packages that cover a wide range of areas. Areas covered include core business functions such as finance, IT and digital, customer service, leadership and management and health and safety while also including specialist training for sectors such as hospitality, trade and health and social care. There is no upper limit on the amount of funding an employer can receive, but all training must be completed by December 2017 to qualify.

The quality of the College’s Apprenticeship provision was again recognised at the 2016 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards, with eight Apprentice of the year winners coming from Truro and Penwith College. The Apprenticeship Recruitment team supports employers throughout the entire recruitment process, creating a great opportunity to grow talent from within and address skill shortages. Apprenticeships are not only a recruitment solution, but also a fantastic way to train or upskill current employees and programmes are available in a wide range of sectors.

Advisors will take a 360° approach when working in partnership with a business, which in addition to Apprenticeship training may involve adding training from the Cornwall Skills Programme to other areas of the business. Our team works closely with the National Apprenticeship Service, and offers advice on the Apprenticeship Levy coming into effect in 2017, helping you to make the most of support you are entitled to under the new system.

Staff who deliver training are industry leaders, with a broad range of experience and expertise working for local and international businesses, as well as designing and delivering training for business of all sizes.

If that’s not enough, Haven House Conference and Training Centre in Truro city centre is available for private hire and offers the perfect mix of meeting rooms, conference facilities and IT suites for your event or meeting.
