Boccia battle

A team of Foundation Studies students have qualified to represent the College and the county in the South West Boccia Championships next Spring.

Students across Cornwall from 10 different schools and colleges battled it out in the Cornwall County Boccia Championships, down to the final which saw the College pitted against Cape Cornwall. A closely fought game ended with Truro and Penwith College finishing second, with a 2-1 win to Cape Cornwall.

Reaching the county final means that the Truro and Penwith team will be progressing on to compete in the South West Championships in Exeter in March.

Steve Kenward, Truro and Penwith College lecturer, said: "The students performed brilliantly. They all had a fantastic time, and we are looking forward to going to Exeter to represent Truro College at the Regional Championships.”

The Cornwall County Boccia is part of the Cornwall Sports Partnership which aims to create opportunities for everyone to participate in sport. The students prepared for the Boccia Championships by taking part in weekly activity sessions as part of the Health, Wellbeing and Sport programme at Truro and Penwith College and will continue as to do so as part of their student time table.
