Aspiring students given opportunity to flourish

Aspiring university level students and those wanting to return to education are being given the opportunity to learn more about the options available thanks to a Higher Education open event at a leading College in Cornwall.

The Gold-rated Truro College open day on Saturday 4th November will help visitors learn more about the different career routes available both in and out of the county, tour the purpose built facilities and talk to experienced lecturers about course options and available funding.

Today, the College has over 40 University Courses at both its Truro and Penwith campuses, ranging in subjects from Arts, Media, Sports, Health, Social Sciences, Science, Archaeology, English, Law, Business, IT and Education & Training.

The courses on offer are easily accessible to students of all ages and most only require a minimum of 24-32 UCAS Points.

Recently rated Gold by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for providing an education with the highest quality teaching, learning and outcomes, the College has enjoyed high results this year with 75% of students graduating with a 2:1 or first-class degree.

Awarded a first-class honours degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery, mature student Alex O’Connor from Penzance certainly discovered her passion and confidence at the College.

Alex said: “I am absolutely blown away with my results. I have loved every minute of it and it has been amazing. Being a mature student, I found it very hard to begin with, but if education is meant to change you in a fundamental way, that is what has happened to me. My confidence, understanding and skills have grown and I’m so pleased with my results.”

The Truro College University Courses Open Day takes place on Saturday 4th November and runs from 10am – 3pm with information talks running hourly from 10:30am.
