Rory Simmons

Rory Simmons is one of the most dynamic musicians on the UK jazz scene- part of the vanguard of new talent currently making waves through the genre. As part of the innovative LOOP collective, he has earned a reputation as an exciting and inventive performer and composer. As a leader of 3 projects, his energy and drive is evident, setting him apart as one of the most creative trumpet players of his generation.

Originally from Bodmin Cornwall - Rory studied at the Trinity College of Music in London. He has performed with Jamie Cullum, Katie Melua, Gerard Presencer, John Etheridge, Maria Rita, Gerard Presencer, Zappatistas, Cubana Bop, Bat for Lashes, Friendly Fires, Nizlopi, Robin Jones King Salsa, Mike Garrick Jazz Britannia Orchestra, Synergy, Grand Union Orchestra, Fire Collective, Byron Wallen, Johnathan Braetoff, Arrange of Space, Ingrid Laubrock, Omar Puente, Ed Puddick Big Band, Combustibule Alarms, Martin Speake, Jarmila Xymena Gorna, Steve Waterman, Tom Richards Jazz Orchestra, Guy Barker, NYJO, Kico Cowan and Mark Lockheart.

Rory has recorded for the new Disney motion picture and performed live on TV and radio across 4 continents. This has included supporting Herbie Hancock at Umbria Jazz Festival, performing at the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta and extensive tours of the US and Canada. He has performed at Playboy Jazz Festival, Antibes Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Cheltenham International Jazz Festival, Vienne Inetrnational Jazz Festival, Thames Festival, Bath Jazz Festival, performing his own music at Ronnie Scotts, Jazz Cafe, Cargo, The Vortex, Royal Festival Hall, Arts Depot, CCA Glasgow, Jersey Jazz Festival and Pizza on the Park. Also having been comissioned by UCL, the Institute of Education, SPNM and Music Orbits.
