Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate

Accredited by the National Open College Network
Get qualified to teach English anywhere in the world 5 week intensive course programme available Flexible, part-time, daytime and evening courses

Admission onto the course
There are no formal entry requirements, but education to A Level standard is preferred. In certain cases completion of a special Access Unit will entitle students to complete the course.

Delivery of the course
We run several courses a year on a part-time and full-time basis. The course will take a minimum of 150 hours to complete, including group tutorials and teaching practice. The part-time course runs for approximately 3 months and the full-time course takes 5 weeks to complete.

Assessment is portfolio based and the course is divided into 6 units. All students will first complete the Language Awareness Unit. This introductory unit will help students to see if they are ready to complete the full course.
The main part of the course consists of 5 units which includes 6 hours of observed teaching practice.
On the academic side the course will provide a thorough introduction to all areas of EFL teaching methodology. You will learn about English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation and how to teach these language skills in the classroom.
Students should note that the full-time, intensive course requires a lot of commitment from students in terms of time and effort as a lot of information is introduced and dealt with in a short time. Students should carefully consider this when deciding which course to complete.
